How Do I Install the Excel Add-In?

Getting the YCharts Add-In set up in Excel just takes a few simple steps. This guide will walk you through the system requirements you’ll need in place before installation, help you confirm which version of Excel (32-bit or 64-bit) you are running, and then provide a step-by-step walkthrough of downloading, installing, and activating the add-in with your YCharts access key. By the end, you’ll be able to seamlessly pull YCharts data directly into your Excel spreadsheets for analysis and client reporting.

Requirements

  • Windows XP or newer
    • Our Add-In is not compatible with Mac computers
  • Microsoft Office 2007 or newer
    • Our Add-In is not compatible with Google Sheets or the online version of Microsoft Office

 


 

Installing the Add-In

1.Save and close out of an open Excel spreadsheets, then head to the Excel page on YCharts.

2. Choose either the 32 bit or 64 bit Excel Add-In version to install. Click here to determine which version you're running. Installing the incorrect version can lead to the add-in producing errors.

3. Select Download Excel Add-In. This should prompt the installation wizard to run.

4. Once the installation is complete, open Excel. You should see a YCharts tab added to the ribbon at the top of the page.

5. Head back to the Excel page and copy the Access Key.

6. Paste the Access Key into the YCharts Add-In tab and select Login. You are now ready to start using the Add-In!

Determining Excel Bit Version

Downloading the incorrect bit version of Excel can lead to errors appearing in spreadsheets upon opening. If you're unsure which version you're running, follow the steps below. 

1. Open an Excel spreadsheet and select File.

2. Scroll to the bottom left and select Account.

3. Select About Excel.

4. In the pop up box, you will see either 32 bit or 64 bit in bold.  Once identified, return to the Excel Add-In download page and select the version that corresponds to your system.
