Northwestern Mutual Integration

The Portfolios holdings integration between Northwestern Mutual and YCharts allows you to import any client household into YCharts to analyze, chart, and present your portfolio.

Activation

To setup the integration in your YCharts account, you will first want to setup SSO for YCharts via the Linknet platform.

Adding SSO for YCharts should automatically activate the Northwestern Mutual integration, but you can head to the Integrations page to confirm.

 

If you have already signed in using the SSO and the integration hasn't been activated, please contact customer support.

Once activated, you are now ready to start using the Northwestern Mutual and YCharts Model portfolios integration. You can hover over Tools at the top of the page and then select Portfolios. Once you have done that, you can click on Import Holdings in the top right of the menu and choose Northwestern Mutual from the menu.

 

Deactivation

This integration is manually handled by YCharts and Northwestern Mutual. To disconnect from the integration, please contact your Account Manager or email support@ycharts.com. 

 

 

Troubleshooting

There are only a couple of errors you may encounter while using the integration. If you’re troubleshooting and need additional support, contact YCharts support team.

 

Error: The selected item(s) do not have any holdings. 

This error appears when you attempt to import entities that do not have holdings. 

To resolve this issue: 

  • Try importing another type of entity. 

  • If you believe the holdings have not properly imported, reach out to YCharts support.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I import cost basis data from Northwestern Mutual?
    • No, cost basis information cannot be brought into YCharts via the Northwestern Mutual integration.
  • Is there a video available demonstrating the activation process?
    • Yes, you can view the activation walkthrough here.
  • If I make changes in Northwestern Mutual, will those automatically update in YCharts?
    • No, by default any changes made in Northwestern Mutual will not transfer over to YCharts. You can change this setting your integration to automatically update here. You can choose from having holdings update daily, weekly, or monthly.
