Why Is There an Error Message When Using a Future Date in Scenarios?
The most common cause of an error when building a future-looking scenario is a lack of portfolio history. Scenarios can only look as far forward as the tool looks back. So if a portfolio has 10 years of history, it can look a maximum of 10 years forward, if it has 5 years of history, it can look forward a maximum of 5 years, etc.
Expanding the portfolio history by editing the portfolio and adjusting the Start of Series to 'Earliest' or 'Custom Date' will typically resolve that error.
Additionally, when using CAPM Expected Returns the portfolio will need at least 5 years of history and when using 10 Year Return the portfolio will need 10 years of history.
