What's included with the Alternatives Data add-on?
Alternatives Data is an add-on that brings fund-level private markets coverage into YCharts, so you can run diligence on individual funds and evaluate them next to the rest of a portfolio. Coverage includes:
- Private Capital Funds: 3,000+ drawdown funds across private equity, venture capital, private credit, and real assets, spanning vintage years and managers such as KKR, Blackstone, Carlyle, and CVC
- Semi-Liquid Funds: 250+ share classes of business development companies (BDCs) and non-traded REITs
- iCapital Funds: 200+ share classes
Private capital and semi-liquid coverage is collected directly by YCharts.
What can I do with the Alternatives Data add-on?
Research an individual fund, chart it, and include it in reports, the same way you would any other security on YCharts. Private capital funds include a redesigned quote page built for fund-level diligence.
You can evaluate a specific fund instead of a whole category, whether you're building a portfolio or showing how a product fits alongside an advisor's existing holdings.
What data and metrics are available?
Available data varies by fund type. Across the add-on funds, you'll find:
- Fund name and share class
- Manager and strategy
- Performance (Price, Distribution, Yield) and risk measures
Private capital funds include additional fund-level detail:
- Vintage year
- Gross asset value (GAV)
- Money Weighted Performance (IRR, TVPI, DPI, RVPI)
- State and country
- Master/feeder structure
- Alternative classification
Can I leverage alternatives data in model portfolios?
Yes, you can hold and evaluate an alternative at the security, portfolio, or household level, so it's analyzed as part of the whole allocation rather than sitting outside it.
Do I need the add-on if I already have a YCharts Professional license?
Some alternatives coverage is included with a YCharts Professional license and is available today on the Alternatives list page, including Hamilton Lane private markets benchmarks, unlisted closed-end funds, and hedge fund strategies. For fund-level detail on private capital funds, semi-liquid funds, and iCapital funds, the Alternatives Data add-on expands your coverage.
How much does this data add-on cost?
$600 per license per year.
